The heart behind Family Designs & Creations
Hi, I'm Kim.
I'm a wife, a mom, a grandma, and the person behind every embroidery, engraving, and print that leaves my home studio in the Kootenays. This is the story of why I started, and why I work the way I do.

Chapter one
It started in 2019, with my family in mind.
I wanted to make something my own. Something that let me work from home, stay close to the people I love, and help families in my community get beautiful custom pieces without paying boutique prices.
What started as a few orders for friends grew into a small business serving families, schools, sports teams, and local shops across the Kootenays. Every piece still goes through my hands. That has not changed and it never will.
The reason I do this work the way I do.
I lost my son when he was just 9 and a half years old. He was the kind of kid who shared what little he had, looked out for the kids who needed someone in their corner, and made everyone around him feel a little more seen.
That stayed with me. It is why I say yes to fundraisers. It is why I work with budgets, not against them. It is why a one-shirt order matters to me as much as a hundred. He taught me that small kindnesses are not small at all.
Every order I make carries a little of his spirit forward.
He taught me that small kindnesses are not small at all.

Chapter two
Custom should feel special, not out of reach.
When my kids were growing up, they didn't always have name brand things. I know what it feels like to want something special and still need it to be affordable. That is why I work to create one of a kind pieces at prices more families can actually enjoy.
Where the magic happens
My studio, right here at home.
Embroidery machine humming, sublimation press warming up, laser engraver waiting for the next idea. Everything I make for you is touched by my hands in this room. No outsourcing, no production line, no calling around. Just me and the work.
In the studio
- Embroidery machine
- Sublimation press
- Laser engraver
- Heat press
- Vinyl cutter
- Full color textile printer

Where the magic happens
I work for you, not the other way around.

Chapter three
Giving back is part of how I work.
I love supporting my community when I can. Over the years that has looked like donating clothing for kids who needed it, supporting medical fundraisers, helping with school and sports orders, contributing to community events, and running draws so more people can feel included. If you are raising money for a cause that matters to you, please tell me about it.
If you read this far
Thank you for letting me share my story.
Bringing one of your ideas to life would be my honour. Whether it is a single keepsake, a team's matching gear, or merch for the business you have been building from scratch, I would love to make something with you.
“I love what I do, and I do what I love. Making affordable custom creations for you.”
